For New Music Monday today, we wanted to talk to you about a New York pop-rock act quartet called Pros and iCons. The band consists of Joey Dean (vocals), Niko Vaude (Guitar), Lenny J. (Guitar), and Tylo (bass).
In 2017 they released their debut full-length album iConic and have worked hard on gaining a following through social media and through their live performances, some of which include select dates on the final Vans Warped Tour this past summer!
The band definitely offers a more mainstream pop-rock vibe but with a more realistic twist than you typically get on the radio. As far as the vibes it’s putting off it’s definitely a sound of it’s own, but if you like bands like The Script, Maroon 5, and Kings of Leon then this might be a band for you to look into.
The song “I Did Something Bad”, a cover they created of the Taylor Swift hit, offers a more dark take on the song that still offers a stadium voice and sound. Definitely digging their version!
They recently released a new acoustic music video for their song “Catch Me” that can be watched here. “Catch Me” was originally released on their iConic record last year, but this new acoustic version lends itself a more personal touch.
On the new video, the band said, “Catch Me’ is an ode to the dreamers of the world and, in a sense, a love letter to ourselves. We listen to the song as inspiration whenever we feel a tinge of defeat. The video captures a narrative of musical progression, expressing where we were, where we are, and where we are going. As we evolve visually and figuratively throughout the video, we’re nearly saying, ‘We’re going to make it. You can catch us if you can.’“
